Equal rights

First, I am sorry for my absence...I have a question to propose to you.

I moved back to Michigan from Atlanta. This is deemed as the "dutch sub culture, Reformed CRC"As we can see, many things have not changed...but as we can see if we truly wish to look...many things have.

One is; Gay rights. There is a organization here, speakequal.com . Equality for everyone...even homosexuals, bi-sexual, trans-gender, ect. I have heard it said; this is THE NEW civil rights fight. Also, I have heard many mention Martin Luther King Junior did NOT fight for us to still be so divided...in the year 2010. So, I propose three questions for you;

1) Did you know Uganda leaders are seriously considering prison or the death penatly for those practicing in homosexual activity?

2) Did you know a church in Kalamazoo wont feed the homeless who either are gay or are in support of this lifestyle?

3) What do you think? Where are you at with this?

Here is the introduction...

So, here I am.

I opened this blog to learn, to hopefully receive feedback and to converse with you, the viewers. I really want to know how race affects America and those outside of America. I want to know how America affects immigrants, I want to know what its like for someone who...honestly is not white to live here....

Why?

Because, there is this thing...this idea of White privilege, which I am 100% sure rules society as we know it....even though white race is not becoming the dominant race...even though Obama is our president...even though this white culture inflicted on people is not fair...even though I am a angry white woman, and people will get pissed off because I am bringing this all to the table and talking about it.

I want to be honest here, perhaps where its safe to converse and get pissed off. To say "white America" is effed up. And perhaps in my honesty, making this a safe place is hiding behind my fear to face it myself. Or maybe, I want to learn....to be more aware of myself in the real world, the way things are really run.

Do you believe there is a white privilege? how do you feel about this? and what do you want to see from white people (and white people can answer this too?) and perhaps, what do you want to see out of this blog...and I know full well this may take time...or perhaps never really catch on.
